In July 2021, I decided to jump into the world of web development. That’s when I realized that I really get into the wonderful web. I started to learn, to build, to enjoy, and now it’s time to write and share.

Why I started writing blogs
Give back to the community
It has been more than 2 years since I started learning web development. During this period, I learned all my skills from the Internet, including free courses, official documentations, and of course, blogs. I learned a lot from those blogs, and I really appreciate those who wrote them. I think it’s time for me to give back to the community.
Improve my writing skills
I’m not a native English speaker, and I’m not good at writing. I hope I can improve my writing skills by writing blogs.
Record and share my thoughts
Like writing a diary or taking photos, writing blogs is a good way to record my thoughts and feelings. It will be interesting to look back at my blogs in the future.
How did I start it
Tech stack
After invesgating some popular frameworks and solutions for building a personal blog, I finally chose the following tech stack:
- Astro - A fresh but powerful static site generator as the foundation with Astro Paper Theme
- Zeabur - A platform for hosting services. I use it to host my blog and other services.
- GitHub - For storing the source code and posts of my blog.
- DALLE 3 - A powerful image generation model for generating images for my blog posts.
Why use Astro
Astro builds fast content sites, powerful web applications, dynamic server APIs, and everything in-between.
Astro is great for building website like blogs. It’s fast, flexible, and easy to use. I really enjoy using it. And there are a lot of great themes for Astro so that I don’t have to build one blog system from scratch.
- What about Next.js?
- I used to love Next.js, but since the Next.js v13 released, it’s becoming more and more complicatied as a web framework and binding with Vercel too tightly. I need a more flexible and simple solution.
- What about blogging platforms?
- They are very convenient and can help me with better exposure, but I want to have full control of my blog.
- What about CMS solutions?
- I prefer to write my posts in pure Markdown. It’s simple and easy to use.
The future of my blogs
I hope I can keep writing blogs and share my thoughts with you.
I would like to write blogs about web development, programming, and my life. I hope you can enjoy reading my blogs.
